X-Men: First Class arrived in theatres on Friday, June 3, 2011. I got to see it on the Sunday of the weekend and I was not disappointed.
Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn did a great job of steering this firmly in the direction of character development. Obviously Erik (Magneto), Charles (Professor X), and Raven (Mystique) were the three leads and got the most attention but service was given to the other characters as well. I thought the weave of comic canon, movie history/future, and completely new material made for a very enjoyable story.
I’d go on with a full review but most of what I’d say has been said by the folks who do it professionally. In short, I thought it was the best of FOX’s tries at the X-Men titles and should be the start of a higher grade of X-Films.
Below is a slideshow of graphics (avatars and wallpaper) I did in the weeks before. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a great deal of source material released beforehand. Hopefully I’ll get back to doing a few more with the material they’ve subsequently released.
(The files are all available individually after the slideshow.)
Since I didn’t catch it in the theater, think I will watch it On Demand now. :) On nice thing about having cable for now…
