Here it is, the second trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. And it has much of the same tone as the first trailer but with more action and humour. It’s lookin’ pretty badass.
I am getting more and more sucked into the marketing for this. Perhaps it’s the void left from the mysterious and wonderful Super 8 campaign or perhaps it’s the increasing amounts of WWII themes and dressing which seem grounded somewhere between the gritty realism of Saving Private Ryan and the OSS-styled world of the original Medal of Honor games, with a healthy dash of Snyderesque actionry. Either way, what was originally a derisive guffaw from me at the announcement of a Captain America movie has turned into an enthusiastic, “Hell, yeah!”
I’ve been disappointed by awesome trailers before (*cough* Kingdom of the Crystal Skull *cough*) but I’m still willing to give a shilling for some red, white, and blue.
Besides, who doesn’t like wailin’ on Nazis? That’s a trope which shows very few signs of aging. So, as it stands, I’m ready to enlist for Captain America: The First Avenger.
