Sad Connection Between Eaton Centre and Century 16 Shootings

Sad. This woman (hockey reporter Jessica Redfield / Jessica Ghawi) narrowly avoided the infamous Eaton Centre shooting while visiting Toronto. She was slain in Aurora, Colorado in last night’s Century 16 theater shooting.

My heart goes out to the slain, the wounded, the traumatized, and their families.

There is tragedy all over the world. Some of it makes this pale in comparison but I do not understand their experience because their situations are not familiar to me. As a nerdy moviegoer who has gone to his share of midnight openings, this event falls too close to home.

A Run On of Thoughts

I can’t get this odd feeling out of my chest. This empty, almost sickening feeling won’t go away. I noticed this feeling when I was in the Eaton Center in Toronto just seconds before someone opened fire in the food court. An odd feeling which led me to go outside and unknowingly out of harm‘s way. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting.

What started off as a trip to the mall to get sushi and shop, ended up as a day that has forever changed my life.
